The Takamine LTD-1995 was the first Crelin inlay design rendered on a guitar. This limited edition model for 1995 was included as part of Takamine's Santa Fe series at the time. It followed their very popular 'Black Crow' inlay motif, introduced a few years earlier. This southwestern design is based on the Zia, a Zuni archetypal symbol representing the Sun (similar to the icon used on the New Mexico state flag). The design is rendered in fine woods and shell, including maple, ovangkol and abalone. The fret marker inlays on the fingerboard animate a Zia 'sunset' going up the neck, as each Sun sinks slowly into the horizon of the fret wire 'frames'. A later Takamine Santa Fe model (PSF-49C) was produced, using this same design with some different inlay materials (turquoise, etc.)
